Alan Symons, President and C.E.O. of AGS Capital LLC, was born in Montreal, Canada, then moved to Toronto, Canada, in 1971. He has resided in Indianapolis, Indiana since 1995.
As one of the founders of the 100th federally incorporated insurance company in Canada's history, Alan has either led or participated in the purchase and sale of more than seven major insurance companies in Canada, the U.S. and Bermuda. Alan has successfully taken several companies public and managed major debt issue. He has led work-out teams that refinanced debt and operations, with substantial returns.
Prior to forming AGS Capital, Alan was Chief Executive Officer of an international insurance corporation and oversaw a staff of one thousand employees. During the course of his leadership, sales grew to over five hundred million dollars/year, with an earnings of over thirty million dollars.
Alan has achieved professional success outside the insurance industry, in 1982, Alan purchased Fluke Transport Ltd. in Hamilton Ontario, Canada. Under Alan's guidance, the company grew into a $20,000,000 trucking and 500,000 sq ft owned warehouse operation. He helped developed the company's memorable motto: "if it's on time it's a Fluke".
In 1986, Alan and his partner, Ron Foxcroft, an NCAA Big 10 Basketball referee, invented the famous Fox 40 Pealess Whistle. With sales in over 141 countries, Fox 40 Inc. is now the largest professional whistle manufacturer in the world.
Alan has invested in regional companies such as Monument Advisers, Inc., a prominent merchant bank, Gazelle fund a successful tech venture capital fund, and Trophy Golf Club, one of the premiere golf courses in Indiana. Alan has made several investments in ventures throughout Canada, the USA, and Mexico.
In 2002 Alan Started AGS Capital LLC here in Indianapolis, since then his company has bought or invested in numerous companies. Companies range from buying the very well known publishing business 'SAMS Publishing' to Superior Metal a large metal finishing company.
In recognition of his business expertise and accomplishments, Alan was honored by Ernst and Young as Entrepreneur of the Year. In addition to his business activities, Alan is a vital member of his community. He served as President and Director of the Columbia Club of Indianapolis twice, is a member of Meridian Hills Golf and Country Club in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Alan has been president of Montreal Curling club, President Lloyds of London NA Names, director of 404 action group and part of the team that settled a 2 billion pound payout to Names. He is a member of Lloyds.
Alan enjoys playing Golf, Squash, Tennis, Skiing, and Sailing. Alan is married to Terri, and is the proud father of four boys.

Keith is the Chief Financial Officer with 20 years of hands on experience. At AGS Capital, Keith leads the financial needs of the group and any acquisition or investment that we review.
Keith’s 20 years of experience has incorporated many diverse experiences that add to the value at AGS Capital. With a focus on the Hospitality and Construction industry, Keith has been involved with the sale/purchase of a full service hotel and the start-up of a construction company. Additional experience has come from the implementation of numerous computer systems and creation of policy/procedure manuals.
At AGS Capital, Keith has overall responsibility for the Accounting and Cash Management of the portfolio companies and provides assistance in the review of potential acquisitions or investments. Keith works closely with each companies “champion” by providing assistance that allows that individual to focus on the business.
Keith is a graduate of Penn State University earning a B.S. Degree in Accounting and since earning a MBA in Accounting. Keith resides in New Palestine where he has been involved volunteering in the community with youth sports and the youth at church.

Cherie Smith

Cherie Smith is a senior human resource specialist for AGS Capital. She has over 12 years of hands-on experience in human resources (HR). She is responsible for taking the lead in any HR issues within the many AGS Capital companies. This also includes reviewing the HR status of companies identified for acquisition, identifying any potential issues, and developing a plan to resolve any potential HR barriers to acquisition. Cherie controls the administration of all forms of grants and other government programs that provide opportunities that help grow the AGS Capital businesses.
She provides HR related counsel to all levels of the AGS management team. As the senior HR specialist, Cherie plans and implements HR policies and procedures. She is responsible for recruiting and staffing at all levels within the organization. Cherie trains and develops new employees so they will be successful at performing their jobs.
Cherie processes payroll for the employees of each company within the AGS Capital group. In addition, she manages both the 401K obligations and benefit packages for all salaried and hourly employees. She monitors federal, state, and local legislation to identify and eliminate potential labor and employee related problems.
Cherie also holds the position of President of AGS Capital’s SES and SMTT companies. She is responsible for any issues related to staffing the companies as well as completely managing the transportation company.
She is a member of the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO), a supporter of Fathers and Families, a member of the Breast Cancer Association, and a member of the Society of Professional Human Resources (SPHR).
Cherie attended Memphis State University. She is a vital member of the community and the Eastern Star Church. Cherie and her husband, Terry, have been residents of Indianapolis, Indiana since 1985, where they are currently raising their son and four daughters.

Steve Blackburn

Steven Blackburn holds the position as president of Superior Metal Technologies, a subsidiary company of AGS Capital. Superior Metal Technologies ("SMT") provides anodizing and painting services to Midwestern customers in the industrial, commercial, architectural, medical, and automotive industries.
Raised in Flint, Michigan, Steve attended Eastern Michigan University where he studied business management. Steve moved to Indianapolis in 1995 where he began working for Aluminum Finishing. This is where Steve got his start in the metal coating and finishing industry.
Throughout his professional life, Steve was repeatedly placed in leadership positions. This provided him with the ability to influence others around him. Organizing people and managing the logistics of running a company has become his passion and made him an influential person in AGS Capital.
But, Steve's life is not all work. In his personal life, Steve enjoys various sporting activities such as skiing, golf, and tennis, along with a passion for collecting unique cars. He and his wife, Karissa, give back to the Indianapolis metropolitan community by investing in the rehabilitation of Indy's inner city real estate projects. When not involved in SMT-related or rehab projects, Steve spends time with his and Karissa's menagerie of pets-three dogs (Winston, Mugzey, Braylee Mae) and a fish (Fernando).
